Maryland police arrested Nobert Matara, 32 years, after discovering the remains of fellow Kenyan Tracy Nyariki, 31 years, in his vehicle. The case unfolded when Nyariki’s worried colleagues reported her unusual workplace absence.
The investigation began with Aberdeen Police conducting a welfare check at Nyariki’s Village of Kent Apartments residence in Bear, New York. Officers discovered concerning evidence suggesting foul play.
The situation escalated when New Castle County Police Department in Delaware alerted Aberdeen authorities about a potentially homicidal individual.
Acting on this intelligence, officers located Matara’s vehicle at the 1100 block of S. Philadelphia Boulevard around 5:00 PM. The grim discovery of human remains during the vehicle search led to Matara’s immediate arrest.
Matara currently remains in Aberdeen custody, awaiting extradition to Delaware where he faces first-degree murder charges. Police confirmed the two were acquaintances but have withheld details about their relationship and the events leading to the incident.
Law enforcement officials indicate the investigation continues, with the possibility of additional charges.
The Aberdeen Police Department and New Castle County Police Department are collaborating closely on the case, piecing together the circumstances surrounding this tragic event within the Kenyan diaspora community .
