In the early hours of this morning, an accident occurred at Twin Bridge on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway, leaving few people dead and several others injured.

The incident has reignited concerns about road safety in the region, particularly as it follows closely on the heels of another tragic accident in the same area just last week.

Accident at Gitaru Interchange As School Bus Overturns Leaving Community in Shock

News Reports

According to police reports, a Simba Coach bus carrying multiple passengers was involved in the accident.

Early indications suggest the bus collided with two lorries before veering off the busy highway and overturning into a ditch.

The driver and several passengers were rescued with serious injuries, while emergency responders, including Red Cross officials, continue their efforts to assist survivors and provide medical care at the scene.

This latest tragedy comes barely a week after a similar incident claimed 13 lives at nearly the same location.

In that accident, which occurred on August 20, a public service vehicle (PSV) was involved in a multiple-vehicle collision.

The death toll in that case included five women, seven men, and one infant, with 55 others injured and admitted to various local hospitals.

There Have Been Increased Cases of Accidents Reported

The recurring nature of these accidents has raised serious questions about the safety of this particular stretch of highway.

Local authorities and road safety experts are now facing increased pressure to address potential hazards and implement stricter measures to prevent future tragedies.

As the community grapples with this latest loss of life, many are calling for a comprehensive review of road safety protocols, infrastructure improvements, and enhanced driver education programs.

The hope is that such efforts might help curb the alarming frequency of accidents on this vital transportation route.

Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this tragic event.

As investigations continue, we urge all road users to exercise extreme caution, especially when traveling through known accident-prone areas.
