Sad news has left the gospel music community in mourning, Marco Joseph, the lead singer of the popular group Zabron Singers, has passed away.
The talented artist died on the evening of August 21, 2024, while undergoing treatment at the Jakaya Kikwete Heart Institute in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Obeid Kazimili, the chairperson of Zabron Singers, announced the devastating news through a somber Facebook post.
“As the chairperson of Zabron Singers, I am deeply saddened to announce the death of our singer, Marco Joseph Bukulu, who was also the deputy chairperson,” Kazimili stated.
He added that further details regarding Marco’s burial arrangements would be communicated soon.
Reports indicate that Marco had been receiving treatment for a heart condition at the time of his passing.
The news of his untimely death has sent shockwaves through the East African gospel music scene, particularly in Kenya, where Zabron Singers enjoy immense popularity.
Known for their uplifting hits such as “Mkono wa Bwana,” “Sweetie Sweetie,” and “Uko Single,” Zabron Singers have become a household name in Kenya.
Their music is frequently featured at major events, and the group has even performed for high-profile figures, including Kenyan President William Ruto during his 2022 inauguration.
As news of Marco’s passing spread, fans and fellow artists took to social media to express their grief and share fond memories of the talented singer.
Ken the DJ, a prominent figure in the Kenyan music scene, wrote, “My sincere condolences to the Zabron Singers for losing their brother Marco Zabron. May His soul rest in peace. Pray for them.”
Another fan, Faith Chepkurui, shared her personal connection to Marco’s artistry, saying, “If there is someone who made me like Zabron Singers TZ songs, it is Marko Joseph… It’s with great shock that I learned of his sad and untimely demise.”
